  • Find the likely record owner: registrar, bursar, landlord, utility, tax agency, payroll, benefits administrator, insurer, servicer, or reporting company.
  • Remove sensitive identifiers from any public note.

write down

  • date, office, route, and person or department
  • confirmation number, case number, ticket, or portal message
  • what was accepted, denied, pending, or missing
  • next written step and deadline
